Palm Treo 680: beyond smartphones.


The Palm Treo 680 is an updated version of their earlier smart solution, Palm Treo 650. This smart phone from Palm, Inc. is lighter, thinner and has 64 Mb of available user's memory against 23 Mb of its earlier version. The handheld's dimension, 111.8 x 58.4 x 20.3 mm makes it really comfortable to hold. The device looks very elegant in all four colour solutions it is available in, viz Graphite, Crimson, Arctic and Copper. Front fascia is dominated by a 44 x 44 mm TFT based screen that can produce more than 65k colours across its 320 x 320 pixels. The Palm Treo 680 features a full QWERTY key – a necessity for a device meant for email, messaging, and web access. Touchscreen navigation is supported by a 5-way navigation button for times when you are using your fingers instead of the stylus.

The Palm Treo 680 works on Palm OS 5, 4.9. which allows synchronization with both Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. The smart phone is powered by a Intel PXA270 312 MHz processor to give you one of the fastest mobile computing experience. As mentioned earlier, the Palm Treo 680 is optimized for mobile internet powered by class 10 GPRS and EDGE technology. The handheld's integrated browser – Blazer 4.5 is at home with WAP 2.0 and HTML pages. Palm Treo 680 gives you Documents-to-Go v7 support for you to read and edit MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files on the go. This smart phone is one of the few palm-tops that offers full PIM functionality.

The device supports all four GSM mobile network bands, thereby is active in almost all corners of the globe. Multimedia potential of the Palm Treo 680 are immense. You can shoot pictures with its integrated VGA camera and share them instantly. You can turn this mobile work station to your mobile music player by loading all your favourite tracks on an external memory card.
